About the authors Laz and Lachi Publications is the combined writing team of J.T. Cheyanne and V.L. Moon. The two met in 2010, fell hard and fast for each other and married in April 2014. They write both independently and together in the gay erotica and gay paranormal genres. They also have a couple of contemporary romance novels under their belt.

And now for the interview with VL and JT!How long have you been writing? V.L.: As an author, roughly two to three years, but on the whole I can still remember writing stories as a child. I'd sit at the old wooden dining table my mother placed at the back of the sofa and happily write for hours. JT:  About the same as V.L.; about two and half to three years. I don't think all of those Lit papers count in high school. What made you decide that you wanted to put yourself out there to publish? V.L.: *Laughs* It wasn't my idea. That little ditty was all down to someone else. However, it's not a decision I will ever regret. J.T.:  Actually, it was the urging of friends and an author I met through Facebook who pushed me to write. I had never given it any consideration at all. I'm glad they were pushy and supportive because I really enjoy watching the characters and stories come to life. Before you started, had you done any fanfiction? If so, what fandom? V.L.: Oh Lord yes...I loved the BDB group I was a part of. The story lines were amazing and the fun and banter between each character used to be so funny. I miss those days. J.T.:  Yeppers. V.L. and I met in the BDB group. We were each writing a character and those characters multiplied. I cried for hours the day I gave up my BDB roles to write independently. They were a part of me and through them, I found the love of my life. Are you in agreement that writing fanfiction is a great way to practice ones craft, why or why not? V.L.: For me personally, I think it's a great starting block for those wishing to learn to write better. I never had a very good education growing up; yet I always loved to write. Being a part of a fanfiction group taught me the basics. I'm still learning now, thanks to JT and her amazing patience. J.T.:  I believe it does help. Any time you are writing, you are improving. FanFic gives you an already developed world (in most cases) and lets you spread your wings a bit. It also keeps the creative juices flowing and can help leap frog over writer's block. It also can provide immediate reader feedback so you know what your audience likes and doesn't like. V.L. baby, I've told you before...you learn faster than anyone I've ever met. Your storytelling ability isn't something anyone can teach...it's YOU and YOU are brilliant. What is your favorite subgenre to write? V.L.: Definitely paranormal. It gives you such a broad scope to create with and write about. J.T.:  I agree. Paranormal. There is so much you can do, so many worlds you can create and explore and ALL of them are full of smexy hawt male lovers! Is there one that you haven’t tried that you see yourself doing in the future? V.L.: I'd love to try a serious crime story. J.T.:  Yes. I want to write a F/F. We've had requests for it. Would you ever write a hetero romance? Why or why not? V.L.: JT and I have already written one; For the Love of a God, which will be re-released some time in the future, once we've revamped the cover art and have written book two. J.T.:  My first independed was hetero, Ocean's Kiss. It's out by Decadent Publishing. And, like V.L. said, we have For the Love of a God which is a modern take on Eros. We have a series planned for that one and it will have a m/m couple in the third book I believe. What is your opinion on the “chicks with dicks” analogy? In your opinion, is it wrong for your males to be emotional or romantic? VL: I don't think it's wrong per-say for a male to be romantic or emotional as long as it's in keeping with the character. My biggest bug-bear is having a huge strapping male that fights dirty, shoots a desert eagle or manhandles horses and cows everyday using endearments such as baby or sweety when talking to their equally buff male partner, or breaking down at the first bad thing that happens. If a  male character is rough, tough, muscular and hard as nails, keep him that way. He can still be romantic and emotional, it just needs to be done in keeping with how he's being written. J.T.:  I agree with V.L. It depends on how he is being written. All gay men are not effeminate nor are they all hardasses. They are regular people living normal lives. When we write contemporary, that's what we strive to show. As with their straight counterparts, men come in all varieties. I have four brothers and while they share some of the same "male" characteristics, they are also very different. Emotions knock us to our knees when we don't expect it and we can't help how we feel. It doesn't matter if you are male or female. As for romance, some understand it and live it and some don't. I love J.D. Robb's series about Eve Dallas. She's a homicide cop, touch as nails and damned good at her job. She's not a romantic by nature and in one book, she tries so hard to create a romantic evening for her husband who is an Irish romantic businessman in a $5,000 business suit. It's one of my favorite scenes. Your first published book? V.L.: My first published book was For The Love of a God. The Publisher has since gone tits up, hence the previous explanation on the re-vamp and future re-release. J.T.:  Ocean's Kiss was my first and it's with Decadent Publishing. A huge thank you to them. I learned so much from my editor Rie Langdon. She's phenomanal. I’m of the opinion that erotica doesn’t have to be real all the time to make a good story, what are your thoughts?  V.L.: Unless you are writing a factual story, I think the writer should be allowed to express their creativity in any way, shape or form they want to. I've never understood why a fictional story, filled with fictional characters and places has to contain factual evidence. To me, fictional, fantasy and make believe are the windows to a writer's soul, where we get to invent and create the most wondrous worlds, places and faces. Why tarnish it with real life? J.T.: I think V.L. nailed that one. I will point out that some "positions" will make my eyebrows go up while I wonder...how in the hell?? Who are the authors that you look up to? VL:   As always, JT will always take top spot. She is my muse and I love shooting the breeze with her and creating new stories. Alina Popescu, she's an amazing author and a lovable rogue....and so bossy!!!!  I love the way she uses Roman and Ancient Egyption names within her Bad Blood series. Avril Ashton gets me every time. OMG that lady is wicked and writes the most hard ass bad boys ever! I dare anyone not to love the Brooklyn Sinners Series. CJ Bishop just makes me go all dreamy. I love the Pheonix club series...Totally addicted. Sara York...For bringing me the Texas Soul Series. Love ya for that! And as always...Aleksandr Voinov. Because DAMN...Everything he writes is just so bloody amazing. J.T.:  My muse and my partner, V.L. She has the most amazing imagination and capacity for storytelling; it blows me away. J.R. Ward. The Black Dagger Brotherhood has an almost cult following. She created a world that sucked people in and held them there amazed and blown away. Other authors have rabid fans, I know they do but the BDB phenom is almost unmatched. Marquesate and Vashtan. I know these authors write under different names now and V.L. mentioned one of them. However, under these pen names they wrote Special Forces, the single most extraordinary book I've ever read. The emotion, the detail, the powerful story of two men who meet in a harsh, violent manner and who come together in a life story that still leaves me reeling. What books are you reading at the moment? Its okay to give a fellow author a plug? V.L.: I've just finished Sarah Yorks A Southern Thing Series. Loved each one of the three books. Totally captivated me. A beautiful Series and definitely one I'll be wanting to re-read. J.T.: I’m between books at the moment. I just finished Demon Hunting in a Dive Bar by Lexi George and Fever by A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly. I have up next Set Adrift by D.S. Kenn What are you working on now? V.L.: Broken Oaths with J.T. and Throwing In the Towel also with J.T. Not sure yet when these will be finished as we have already started book three in The Crimson Nights Saga. J.T.: And we have lots more ideas in draft form. If you write gay romance or erotica, just how descriptive are your in their sex scenes? V.L.: A lot of that depends on the scene being played out, or the actual mood of the character I'm writing. Sometimes insinuating their having sex or a short sexual scene makes the story flow better than writing out a whole scene that is pages long. But, I do believe that its nice to be descriptive; it adds to the atmosphere created on the pages and makes for a more erotic scenario. J.T.:  Like she said it depends on where we are in the story and what the characters are telling us. Sometimes we want a good down and dirty scene and our male will clam up tight. We are at their mercy. As a gay fiction or m/m romance author, do you feel that the trend is changing where it is becoming more mainstream? VL: Most definitely, and what's more I hope it continues to grow. As more and more countries begin to accept same sex marriage as the norm, my wish is that one day, the stories written by the many talented authors out there will be turned into films and given the recognition they so rightly deserve. J.T:  In some places, yes it is becoming more mainstream, but the U.S. is sadly lagging behind in acceptance in the public forum. J.R. Ward took a huge step in mainstream with the release of Lover at Last in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Other mainstream authors write gay characters in their series but they are not the featured couple in the novel. As far as I know, you still can't waltz into Wal-Mart or Barnes and Noble and find a variety of gay themed books on the shelves.It's sad. As V.L. said, there are many many talented authors out there and some great stories that are being overlooked. *What is the distinct difference between m/m and gay fiction? V.L.: To me, I'd say the difference is that with M/M it can portray the factual relationship between to males and the events surrounding their lives. Gay fiction however, gives you the broader aspect of taking that relationship and the gender of the characters and giving it a twist. I.E making the characters into Alien's from another world, male fairies, vampires or angel's. J.T.: Being a former paralegal and a researcher, I had to go look this up. Stop laughing at me V.L., I can't help it. Technically, I really don't see a difference in what I've read. Publishing date makes it one or the other? Really? I don't think that's a very strong criteria. The number of sexual partners? I don't think that does either. M/M is not just romance and gay fiction is not just sex inside of a story. It appears the conflict comes because the author doesn't want to be termed a "romance writer." Why not? Because since its inception "romance" books have been considered "trashy novels" that are little more than porn? Or, because it's not considered a true "Great American Novel" in the same since as Little Women or The Scarlet Letter? Romance authors put just as much effort into our stories as Mr. Stephen King or Mr. James Patterson. Not everyone likes romance, that's fine. I don't like horror, but Mr. King makes a fortune off of readers that do. I don't care how it's classified. I just want to write what V.L. and I love and put it out there for the readers to enjoy. Did that get to deep? Geez, I never know when to shut up sometimes. *Do you believe it’s important for you to know the gender of the author? V.L.: No...I believe as a reader and a writer, if a story is well written and makes me hate that I've reached the last page, it's a job well done, regardless of the author's gender. J.T.: I agree. Gender doesn't matter as long as the story is good. (If female)As a fellow fem in the genre, what is your stance on the difference between male and female gay writers? V.L.: Personally I don't believe men or women should be criticized for writing a character of the opposite sex. I do think there's a need for research, but on the whole, we all have feelings and emotions, we just have to tweak them to coordinate with the role we are writing.  After all, look at RuPaul and Dustin Hoffman as Tootsie...They deserve every recognition for the way in which they portray a female character....Why shouldn't female authors receive the same recognition for writing a male? J.T.:  There is no difference. Would The Notebook have been better if written by a female? Hell no. Nicholas Sparks knocked that shit out of the park. Woul Harry Potter have been better from a male author, I think not. The gender of the author should never be an issue. (If female) What are your thoughts on the fact that some gay male writers discriminate against women? VL:  To me, that's the same as saying you can't write a crime story unless you're a cop! It's a biased and bigoted view. In an age when we are constantly campaigning to be accepted as equals, it amazes me that a gay male would do this. But to each to their own. It won't stop me from writing or enjoying the stories we create. J.T.: Discrimination in any form is wrong. What is it about gay fiction and or m/m romance that pleasures you to write it? V.L.: The power and strength that comes with male emotion. I always feel that gay male couples have something very unique. I don't know why, they just have such a beautiful quality to them. Their love seems deeper, more binding some how. J.T.:  The fact they are in my head and won't shut up? LOL. I honestly don't know what to say here. I remember reading the BDB series and wanting Butch and Vishous together so badly I couldn't stand it. They were perfect as a couple but mainstream wasn't ready, or Ward wasn't comfortable. I don't know, but it just seemed wrong they didn't get their HEA because of society's unwillingness to accept it.  I felt like it was a genre that I needed to explore and I've loved every minute of it. *How do you feel about m/f writers making the jump into the m/m romance genre just because it’s popular? V.L.: We can't have one rule for one person and another for someone else. A writer has to write what they are feeling at the time. If that’s M/M, alien, M/F or crime....Then who am I to argue with that? It's like saying only romance should have sex! J.T.:  I agree with V.L. Write what you feel. If you don't firmly believe in your characters and their story, it will show in the writing. If they are simply "jumping on the bandwagon" it will show in their words. If they truly love and support the m/m relationships and the gay community, it will reflect in their stories. *What is your stance on issues in society like same sex marriage, DOMA, etc? V.L.: In real life, I'm married to JT...Both females, the day when we are classed as just a normal  married couple instead of a gay married couple will be one I rejoice. J.T.:  I love her. We've been together almost four years now. I sat in my office at work the day DOMA was struck down glued to my computer watching the live feed of the reading of the decision. I cried all over myself locked in my office. One hurtle was gone. Finally. V.L. is a British citizen and I'm in the U.S. It gave us hope. We were married in April in Washington D.C. because my state hasn't legalized same sex marriage. I've applied for visas to  move to the UK and live as a family with my angel and been denied repeatedly. Its frustrating for a stranger in an office across the ocean to tell you...no, you can't live with your wife, your love doesn't matter as much as Mr. and Mrs. Straight Guy. As the song says...."No Freedom till we're equal, damn right I support it." *Is it time for sites like Amazon to become more clear about the categories for gay fiction and m/m romance books. V.L.: Personally yes. More so that it will then give the reader a more in-depth view of what genre they are purchasing and what to expect. J.T.:  Yes, clarity is a definite plus. *(If not a gay male) Just how much research do you do about attitudes, sex scenes etc of gay men? What methods do you use?  V.L.: Gay friends, some porn, although most are to...IDK I just like the real thing and some...SOME porn sites can be too fake at times. Gay magazines. J.T.: Attitudes, I have plenty of research on. I live in the deep South. We have quite a long way to go on equality. I've watched my fair share of man love on film *coughs and grins at V.L.* Sex is pretty much sex though, insert Tab A into Slot B or C...maybe a couple of Tab As...and a variety of Bs, Cs and Fs and if all else fails, the porn will show if you its possible. People can get in very, weird positions. I don't know how they are enjoying it when they have to be holding their breath or fighting for balance, but it damn sure looks good. *What is your opinion about some review sites not accepting m/m books? V.L.: Each to their own. You try and find the best review sites for your genre. J.T.:  That is their choice, the same it is my right to choose what I write. *Where do you see m/m romance in the next 5 years? V.L.: Hopefully as a more popular and accepted genre with a much larger reader base. I personally feel that SOME  people still see it as seedy, but that can be said for any genre. Murder and rape happens every day in real life. Sadly, it has become the norm in our society and it’s a damn sight more seedy than gay male romance. J.T.:  As fast as the laws are changing here in the US and in the world, I think it will be more easily accessible in book stores and other stores. Change takes time. *As an m/m romance author or gay fiction author, should there be more m/m or gay YA novels? Why or why not? V.L.: Yes yes yes.....if only to tell our young that there is no shame in loving someone of the same sex. We need to be there for our children, show them understanding and patience and love them for who they are and who they love. Let them read for themselves the delicate process of young love and the feelings that come with it. Let them see they're not alone. J.T.:  I agree completely with V.L. The pre-teens, teens and young adults need to know they are not alone. They need to know they can be accepted for who they are; that they aren't broken or damaged. I learned so much through reading; so much that wasn't taught in school. *As an m/m romance or gay fiction writer, what stereotype of gay men bothers you the most? V.L.: None. I love gay men. J.T.:  One I hate is when straight men assume they are "tougher" than a gay man just because he's gay. I am not a fan of fist fights, but I want the gay man to beat that ass one good time and shut them up. Fun questions pick at least 3 Name one celeb that you wish was gay and why? V.L.: OMG!!! Sorry but Marcus Schenkenberg...Cus please!! Who wouldn't wanna tap that ass! J.T.:  okay this will be Captain Obvious.....David Gandy. Name two male celebs that you’d like to see in a hot make out session? V.L.: Duh.....Marcus Schenkenberg and David Gandy! J.T.:  Nailed it in one V.L. baby. Create a gay scene for your two gay stars in 5 sentences or less? V.L.: David Gandy, hands bound and strung up high, legs spread and totally naked when Marcus enters the room licking Haagen Dazs ice cream off of a spoon. Eyes wide, Marcus licks his lips, scoops up the ice cream onto his fingers and purrs. "There's much nicer places to eat this from." Lets the frozen dessert melt down over Gandy's cock before going down on bended knee's to slurp, suck and lick that fucker until the cream turns to come and Gandy's screaming Marcus's name over and over again! J.T.: Did Laz and Lachi just make an appearance? DAMN female. Your favorite gay tv show or movie? V.L.: Queer as Folk USA Version J.T.:  Hunting Season. It's an online show. Only has one season out so far and I actually donated, a very small amount in the grand scheme of things, to help pay for the second season. It's in production now. *Your favorite gay celeb? V.L.: Ricky Martin.....Damn Hot! J.T.:   Adam Lambert. Sweet 'Effing Hell! Do you feel that celebs who are gay or bi should come out the closet? V.L.: I don't believe they should have to hide. It makes me sad that they do. These are people our children follow and look up to. Probably one of the reasons they find it so hard to accept themselves when they see adults hiding who they really are! J.T.: I agree they shouldn't have to hide, but coming out is a personal decision. For the men in your books, commando or underwear? V.L.: Commando...All except Seth. He's a nice boy! J.T.: Easy access is always good, just have to watch those damn zippers. Favorite character in one of your books? V.L.: Always Laziel. Followed by a close Vischeral. Yup there I said it! J.T.:  I think I may faint on that one!  Lachi is my heart. The character you identify with? V.L.: Laziel is all me. J.T.:  Lachi and Vischeral. If you’ve watched gay porn, tell me your favorite movie and or star. V.L.: Adam Killian in anything as long as his naked!!!!! J.T.:  I haven't actually watched him, that I remember, but I am friends with Jesse Jackman on Facebook and he is awfully nice, very smexy and smart.
